*******************************************************************
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced today (September 30) that, in view of the latest situation of COVID-19, non-fee charging outdoor leisure venues for team games will be reopened on October 2 (Friday).
Non-fee charging outdoor pitches/courts for team games such as soccer pitches, basketball courts, volleyball courts, handball courts, netball courts, a roller hockey court and cricket grounds will reopen on October 2. The maximum number of players and referees to be allowed in each playing field/court during a match or competition or training should follow the rules and regulations of the respective sports. The spokesman for the LCSD reminded members of the public to take note of social distancing and to wear a mask before and after exercise at outdoor leisure venues. The LCSD will also continue to close spectator stands.
As for the reopened indoor leisure facilities for team games such as basketball courts, volleyball courts, netball courts and handball courts, the maximum number of players and referees to be allowed in each playing field/court will be relaxed from four persons in each sub-group to the number of players and referees allowed under the rules and regulations of the respective sports. The LCSD reminded members of the public that the requirement of wearing a mask is maintained when playing these indoor team games.
Some leisure facilities will continue to be closed until further notice. They are public beaches, barbecue sites, indoor children's play rooms and Pui O Campsite.
Processing and acceptance of individual and block booking applications for non-fee charging land recreation and sports facilities as well as block booking applications for fee charging land recreation and sports facilities are maintained. Processing and application for use of amphitheatres and non-fee charging leisure venues for non-designated use/sales activities are suspended until further notice.
The LCSD will continue to monitor the situation closely and review the arrangements in a timely manner.
