Salary:
Master Pay Scale Point 5 ($19,535 per month) to Master Pay Scale Point 8 ($23,585 per month)
Entry Requirements:
Candidates should have –
(a) possessed at least one year of work experience in electrical or plumbing works;
(b) attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English Languages equivalent to Primary 6 standard; and
(c) a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test (BLNST).
[Notes:
(i) Preference may be given to candidates having work experience in the filtration plant room of a swimming pool.
(ii) Candidates should state clearly in their applications details of any skills and experience they have in the fields as specified in (a) above.
(iii) Candidates without supporting documents of the Chinese and English Languages proficiency of (b) above may also apply. There will be assessments of Chinese and English Languages proficiency during the selection interview. Candidates will be required to pass the relevant assessments.
(iv) All applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their knowledge of the Basic Law and the National Security Law. A pass result in the BLNST is an entry requirement for all civil service jobs. Only those candidates who have passed the BLNST will be considered for appointment.
For candidates who have not taken the relevant BLNST or have not attained a pass result in the relevant BLNST at the time of application, they may still apply for the job and arrangements will be made for them to take the relevant BLNST during the recruitment process.
(v) For consideration on passage of probation bar and further appointment on the prevailing permanent terms, successful applicants should be attached to public swimming pool(s) or other leisure venues with filtration plant room(s) for on-the-job training and pass the examination on filtration plant operation and knowledge as required by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) within the specified period. ]
Duties:
An Artisan (Filtration Plant) is mainly deployed on –
(a) operating the filtration plant, ozone disinfection system, chlorinators and other relevant apparatus; and ensuring that the operation of the plant is in order;
(b) testing and adjusting the chemical content of the pool water to the required range;
(c) applying lubrication and greasing the machines/ equipment in the plant where necessary;
(d) conducting minor repairing work to all fittings and equipment; and
(e) keeping stock of tools and chemicals in the plant.
[Notes: Successful candidates should note the following -
(i) they are required to work 45 hours net per week (excluding meal breaks);
(ii) they are subject to posting and transfer, and required to work in remote areas (including outlying islands) at the discretion of the Head of Grade/ Department;
(iii) they are required to wear uniform and personal protective clothing;
(iv) they may be required to perform shift duties and work irregular hours (including on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays). Actual working hours will be arranged by supervisors; and
(v) they may be required to undergo in-service training and related assessment.]
Terms of Appointment:
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years and should pass the examination on filtration plant operation and knowledge as required by LCSD within the specified period before being considered for passage of probation bar and further appointment on the prevailing permanent terms (See Note (v) under the section “Entry Requirements”). Any officer failing to comply with the above requirements may have his/ her service terminated.

Candidates who are invited for trade test and selection interview will be required to produce the original copies of the official transcripts/ diplomas/ certificates or other qualification documents in support of the academic qualifications and supporting documents for working experience for verification and photocopies for record purpose. The applications will not be considered if any candidates fail to produce the original copies of the required documents for verification. All qualifications/ working experience of the candidates should be obtained on or before the close of application. Qualifications/ working experience obtained after the close of application will not be considered.

This period may be longer in exceptional circumstances or when a large number of applications are received.
