Technical Officer II, Cultural Services in Stage Work Type


Salary: Master Pay Scale Point 8 (HK$23,585 per month) to Master Pay Scale Point 21 (HK$47,010 per month)

Entry Requirements:
Candidates should have -
(a) (i) a Diploma or Higher Certificate in Theatre and Entertainment Arts, Stage Management or Theatre Production from a Hong Kong polytechnic university/ polytechnic or Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE)/ technical college/technical institute, or equivalent; or
(ii) a Diploma or Higher Certificate in Theatre and Entertainment Arts, Stage Management or Theatre Production from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, or equivalent; and 2 years’ relevant post-qualification experience in stage management or theatre production;
(b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; and
(c) a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test.
 
(Notes : 
(i) For civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 is accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
(ii) Candidates should state clearly in their applications their full record of employment, academic qualifications and Chinese and English languages proficiency level.  Applications which did not provide all information as requested or which are not clear that the candidates have met the entry requirements will not be considered.
(iii) All qualifications required should be obtained on or before the application deadline. Qualifications obtained after the application deadline will not be considered.
(iv) All applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their knowledge of the Basic Law and the National Security Law. A pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test is an entry requirement for all civil service jobs. Only those candidates who have passed the Basic Law and National Security Law Test will be considered for appointment.  For candidates who have not taken the relevant Basic Law and National Security Law Test or have not attained a pass result in the relevant Basic Law and National Security Law Test at the time of application, they may still apply for the job and arrangements will be made for them to take the relevant Basic Law and National Security Law Test during the recruitment process.)


Duties:
A Technical Officer II, Cultural Services in Stage Work Type is mainly deployed on-
 
(a) coordinating and supervising stage and front-of-house operations as applicable and acting as officer-in-charge during booking sessions;
(b) liaising with hirers and venue staff as applicable on technical requirements and ensuring the provision of stage services and that stage facilities are in safe and good condition;
(c) assisting in preparing and updating of technical data and drawings; and
(d) supervising Artisans and other relevant personnel in daily operations.
 
(Notes: Members of the grade – 
(i) may be required to undergo training relevant to the duties of the grade and work irregular hours; and
(ii) are subject to posting and transfer within their respective streams and work types at the discretion of the Head of Grade/Department.)

Terms of Appointment:
A new appointee will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years.  Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.

For qualifications awarded by local institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority, copies of the official transcripts of studies and certificates are not required to be submitted at this stage of application.  Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.  They should submit all copies of their official transcripts of studies and certificates by email to toiis-recruitment@lcsd.gov.hk on or before 18 December 2025.  Candidates should mark “For application of Technical Officer II, Cultural Services in Stage Work Type” and quote the on-line application number on the copies of every page of supporting documents.

Candidates who are invited for selection interview will be required to produce the original copies of the official transcripts, certificates and proof of relevant working experience for verification and photocopies for record purposes.  The application will be deemed unsuccessful if any applicant fails to produce the original copies of the required documents for verification.

Candidates who are selected for selection interview will normally receive an invitation in about eight to ten weeks from the closing date for application.  This period may be longer in exceptional circumstances, e.g. when a large number of applications are received or when there are other complications.  Those who are not invited for selection interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.

General Notes:
