Community Cultural Ambassador 2026: Move In Dance Theatre "Journeys of Hakka Heroines'" Touring Performances

Description

This project explores the traditional roles of Hakka women known as "Four Heads and Four Ends": "field head and land end" (farming), "stove head and pot end" (cooking), "needle head and thread end" (sewing), and "home head and teaching end" (household and child-rearing). Through the imagery of "weaving", it links memories of labour with emotional narratives to raise community awareness of Hakka women and creates an opportunity for inter-generational cultural dialogue. Drawing inspiration from the Hakka nursery rhyme Moonlight contemporary poetry on Hakka women with modern dance, the dance theatre blends to unfold a poetic story against the myriad lights of homes.​
