Hurry up, come and visit the Hong Kong Flower Show over the long weekend

People have only two more days to see the tens of thousands of exotic flowers at the annual Hong Kong Flower Show at Victoria Park. The show will close at 9pm on Monday (March 24).

The showground is a colourful wonderland of more than 350,000 flowers, including 60,000 pots of the theme flower Gerbera. Other highlights of the show include the spectacular Leisure and Cultural Services Department display "Vibrant Blossoms for Beijing Olympics" featuring floral sculptures of the five "Fuwa", mascots of the Beijing Olympics, and the logos for the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games; the spectacular sea of 18,000 colourful tulips; a floral wall displaying East Asian Games' emblem and slogan; the mosaiculture display "Equestrian Joy" featuring Fuwa Huanhuan and Fu Niu (lucky bull) Lele, the respective mascots of the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games, and eight horses on the lawn; an exhibition on the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay; an exhibition on the hosting of the Olympic equestrian events in Hong Kong, and grand displays by Beijing Municipal Administration Centre of Parks, Shenzhen Urban Management Bureau and Zhongshan City Xiaolan Town People's Government.

At today's (March 22) prize presentation ceremony, Liu Man-wah from Hong Kong Chinese Women's Club College, and Chong Kwui-king from S.K.H. Lui Ming Choi Memorial Primary School (A.M.) were respective overall winners for the Secondary School and Primary School Sections of the Hong Kong Flower Show 2008 Nanyang Commercial Bank Student Drawing Competition. The winning entries are now on display at the showground.

A series of fringe activities including performances and floral art demonstrations complement the flower show for the enjoyment of visitors. Details of the floral art demonstrations are as follows:

At the Central Lawn, a series of fringe activities will also be held, including:

Pony and Equestrian Display: noon to 5pm

2. Plant Care Workshops

March 23-24: 10am to 5.30pm

The show is open from 9am to 9pm. Admission tickets are available at the entrance to the showground at Victoria Park.

Admission for adults is $14. Children aged four to 14, students, senior citizens aged 60 or over and persons with a disability pay half price.
