Applications invited to operate stalls at Victoria Park Arts Corner

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department is inviting individuals and subvented non-governmental organisations to apply to operate stalls during the ninth phase of the Arts Corner in Victoria Park.

The new round of the Arts Corner will run from 10am to 6pm on Sundays and public holidays from April 4, 2008, to January 18, 2009. The Arts Corner will be suspended when major events are held at the park and prior notice will be given.

A total of 36 arts service stalls and handicraft stalls will be set up at South Pavilion Plaza in Victoria Park. Services to be provided by arts service stalls include photography, painting, calligraphy, silhouette cutting and sketching or caricaturing. Handicrafts and artworks to be offered by handicraft stalls include pottery, straw-weaving works, dough models, paper craftworks, carving works, accessories, floral artworks, sand paintings, cloth artworks and clay works.

Interested parties can submit their applications from next Monday (January 14) to February 1. Forms are available at the Victoria Park Management Office at Causeway Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, or the Eastern District Leisure Services Office on 3/F, Quarry Bay Municipal Services Building, 38 Quarry Bay Street, Hong Kong.

Completed application forms should be submitted together with copies of relevant proof of professional knowledge in respective fields (if any) and samples of artworks or handicrafts (not more than three pieces) to the Victoria Park Management Office before 5pm on February 1.

Applications will be considered by the Arts Corner Vetting Panel according to the variety, quality, creativeness, artistic merit and attractiveness of the arts services or handicrafts as well as relevant professional skills of the applicants.

Each successful applicant is required to pay a registration fee of $100 and a security deposit of $1,000. The security deposit will be forfeited if the attendance of a successful applicant at a stall falls below 70% or if the agreement is terminated due to failure in fulfilling the agreement terms. Successful applicants are each required to effect and keep in force public liability insurance with an indemnity of a minimum of $6.5 million during the agreement period.

For enquiries, please call 2890 5824.

Ends/Saturday, January 12, 2008
