Sand sculptors show their creativity in Sai Kung

Over a hundred sand sculptors used Clear Water Bay Second Beach at Sai Kung as a platform to demonstrate their creativity today (December 2).

They not only showed their talent and team spirit, but also exchanged their experiences with each other in the Sai Kung Sand Sculpture Competition 2007, organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

A total of 37 teams joined the competition this year: 18 teams in the youth division, eight in the family division, eight in the disabled division and three in the open division.

Each team participating in the competition was required to finish its work in an area of three metres by four and a half metres within one hour and 45 minutes.

Judging was based on creativity, skills, relevance to the themes and aesthetics.

Winners of today’s competition were:

Open division: “Fallen” by “Sandfreaks”;

Youth division: “Great mother” by “P.B one family”;

Family division: “Bull market reappears” by “Zoo”; and

Disabled division: “Happy moment” by “Richmond Fellowship of Hong Kong Sheung Tak House (2)”.

“Fallen” by “Sandfreaks” was also awarded the overall championship.

Visitors were attracted to the beach adorned with magnificent sand sculptures. They also enjoyed the fun fair and performances staged at the beach.

Ends/Sunday, December 2, 2007
