LCSD heated swimming pools open in winter

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will provide heated swimming facilities in 16 public swimming pools this winter.

Eleven of the 16 swimming pools will provide heated swimming facilities from tomorrow (November 1). They are: Morrison Hill Swimming Pool, Island East Swimming Pool, Lai Chi Kok Park Swimming Pool, Tai Kok Tsui Swimming Pool, Ho Man Tin Swimming Pool, Hammer Hill Road Swimming Pool, Shing Mun Valley Swimming Pool, Fanling Swimming Pool, Sha Tin Jockey Club Swimming Pool, Hin Tin Swimming Pool and Tseung Kwan O Swimming Pool.

The other five swimming pools will be closed during some periods in winter for annual maintenance. Their opening dates are as follows:

Wan Chai Swimming Pool:
November 1, 2007 to January 13, 2008, and February 25, 2008 onwards

Sham Shui Po Park Swimming Pool:
December 1, 2007 onwards

Kowloon Park Swimming Pool:
November 1 to 30, 2007

Tuen Mun Swimming Pool:
November 1, 2007 to January 13, 2008

Yuen Long Swimming Pool:
November 1-25, 2007 and December 17, 2007 onwards

Three public swimming pools without heated swimming facilities, Victoria Park, Kennedy Town and Kowloon Tsai will remain open from 6.30am to noon daily until November 30.

To tie in with pool usage patterns and meet the demand of morning swimmers and swimming groups for late afternoon and evening training sessions, the weekly cleaning operation of the 16 swimming pools with heated swimming pool facilities will start from 10am and finish before the end of the second session as usual, so that the pool can be re-opened at the third session.

The schedule of the weekly cleaning operation is as follows:

Mondays:
Tai Kok Tsui Swimming Pool, Hammer Hill Road Swimming Pool, Shing Mun Valley Swimming Pool, and Tseung Kwan O Swimming Pool

Tuesdays:
Kowloon Park Swimming Pool and Fanling Swimming Pool

Wednesdays:
Island East Swimming Pool, Lai Chi Kok Park Swimming Pool, Ho Man Tin Swimming Pool, and Yuen Long Swimming Pool
　
Thursdays:
Morrison Hill Swimming Pool, Tuen Mun Swimming Pool and Hin Tin Swimming Pool

Fridays:
Wan Chai Swimming Pool, Sham Shui Po Park Swimming Pool and Sha Tin Jockey Club Swimming Pool
