Renovation works at Sha Tin Public Library start in July

Renovations to the Sha Tin Public Library would begin on July 6 (Friday) to provide better library facilities and enhance service quality, a spokesman for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (June 28).

In addition to improving the reading environment, library facilities to be upgraded include converting the multi-media library to an open-plan library, enhancing the existing audio-visual equipment, installing a reading corner at the Children's Library and the expansion of seating capacity at the Students' Study Room.

The project to be implemented in phases, will last about 18 months. It is expected to be completed at the end of 2008.

The library will remain open during the renovation period, although some of facilities under renovation will be partially maintained and suspended.

Details of the renovation works will be displayed in the library and on the website: http://www.hkpl.gov.hk . Enquiries can be made on 2694 3788.
