Sham Shui Po Park Swimming Pool reopens

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced today (June 14) that since the water samples of Sham Shui Po Park Swimming Pool taken on June 12 are up the standards, the swimming pool will be reopen at 7pm today.

The swimming pool was temporarily closed for checking, sterilisation and cleansing after the discovery of E. coli in a water sample collected earlier from the children's pool and the total bacteria count exceeding the prescribed limit.

A spokesman stressed that as a standard practice, water in Sham Shui Po Park Swimming Pool is continuously filtered and sterilised throughout the opening hours. The water quality is closely monitored on the spot as well as by regular laboratory tests. The test results will be announced at the venue and on the LCSD website respectively.

Ends/Thursday, June 14, 2007
