Red flags lowered at nine beaches

Attention TV/radio announcers:

Please broadcast the following as soon as possible and repeat it at regular intervals:

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced this morning (June 13) that the red flags hoisted at St. Stephen's and Turtle Cove Beaches in Southern District, Cafeteria Old, Cafeteria New, Golden, Butterfly, Kadoorie and Castle Peak Beaches in Tuen Mun District and Ma Wan Tung Wan Beach in Tsuen Wan District had been lowered.

The red flags were hoisted at the beaches after red tides were found.

Hung Shing Yeh Beach in Islands District, which was also affected by a red tide, has the red flag still hoisted because of big waves. Beach-goers are advised not to swim at the beach.

Ends/Wednesday, June 13, 2007
