Russian choir bringing Christmas cheer to Hong Kong
************************************************

The world renowned St Petersburg Chamber Choir will perform in Hong Kong next month (December).

The performance will be at 8pm on Wednesday, December 20, at the Auditorium, Shatin Town Hall, featuring all-Russian Christmas music. The choir will also showcase an array of Russian tunes at 8pm on Thursday, December 21, at Concert Hall, Hong Kong City Hall.

The artistic director, Nikolai Kornev, will conduct the choir to perform works by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Shostakovich and other Russian composers.

Founded in 1977, the St Petersburg Chamber Choir is one of the leading choirs in Russia and is actively involved in continuing the rich traditions of Russian and European vocal music. It is made up of professional musicians who graduated from Russia's top musical institutions.

The choir's broad repertoire includes Renaissance music, Bach's sacred compositions, nineteenth-century music and contemporary works, many of which were composed for the choir. In this way the choir has attracted the attention of many well-known conductors and soloists and received numerous national awards. The choir has launched an extensive international touring career, and has received critical acclaim in the US, the UK and continental Europe.

Tickets priced from $100 to $250 are now available at URBTIX outlets, while senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients may have 50% off (limited quotas for CSSA recipients on a first-come, first-served basis).
