Local diva to team up with Broadway singers
*******************************************

The Hong Kong Musical Theatre Federation's latest production, "Postcards from Broadway" will be staged next month. Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the production will star two Broadway veterans, D Michael Heath and Laurie Williamson, as well as local diva Rebbecca Pan and Hong Kong's most versatile musical theatre performers.

The programme consists of some of the best songs and dance numbers ever written for the Broadway stage, from the roaring S to today's blockbusters, "Les Miserables", "West Side Story", "The King and I", "The Phantom of the Opera" and many more.

D Michael Heath has worked with many of the greatest composers and lyricists of our time including John Kander and Fred Ebb, Cy Coleman, Marvin Hamlisch, Alen Menken, Tim Rice, Stephen Sondheim and Andrew Lloyd Webber. His Broadway, Off-Broadway, and touring performance credits include "Starlight Express", "The Most Happy Fella", "Les Miserables in Concert", etc.

D Michael Heath's voice is described as "eerily lovely" by The Orlando Sentinel.

Laurie Williamson, received critical acclaim, both in the US and internationally, as a principal soloist in "Music of the Night Concert" and "The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber in Concert". She was featured on Broadway in "Wonderful Town", "Ragtime", "King David", "Singin' in the Rain" and "The Phantom of the Opera".

The Washington Times had this to say: "Her vocal range was tremendous, from a deep, throaty alto to a coloratura soprano, and her presentation was sensational."

"Postcards from Broadway" will be staged at 7.30pm on October 7 and 8 (Saturday and Sunday); and 2.30pm on October 8 at the Auditorium, Sha Tin Town Hall. Tickets priced at $160, $120 and $90 are now available at all URTBIX outlets.
