Arts Corner at Victoria Park invites applications from stall operators
******************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department is inviting applications from individuals and subvented non-governmental organisations to operate stalls during the seventh phase of the Arts Corner at Victoria Park.

The new round of the Arts Corner will run from 10am to 6pm on Sundays and public holidays from October 2, 2006 to June 24, 2007. The Arts Corner will be suspended during major events held at the park upon notice.

Application forms will be available from tomorrow (June 3) at Victoria Park Management Office on Causeway Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, and Eastern District Leisure Services Office 3/F, Quarry Bay Municipal Services Building, 38 Quarry Bay Street, Hong Kong and the deadline for submitting applications is July 21.

Forty stalls will be set up at the South Pavilion and South Pavilion Plaza of Victoria Park for the sale of souvenirs relating to recreation, art and culture, and services such as painting, photography, calligraphy and sketching.

Each application will be given a score by the Arts Corner Vetting Panel in accordance with the quality and variety of products/services provided.

Additional score will be granted to applicants who can provide certificates or resumes to prove their skills or related experience.

If the total number of qualified applicants exceeds the quota, stalls will be allocated to those of the highest score or by drawing lots if the scores are equal.

Each successful applicant is required to pay a registration fee of $100 and a deposit of $1,000. The deposit will be forfeited if the stall operator's attendance rate is less than 70% or when the agreement is terminated due to failure in fulfilling the agreement terms. Successful applicants are required to deposit a public liability insurance policy of a minimum of $6.5 million for the contract period.

Completed application forms should be submitted together with copies of any proof of professional knowledge in respective fields (if any) and samples of past works or products to the Victoria Park Management Office on or before 5pm on July 21.

For enquiries, please call 2890 5824.
