German masked theatre to delight audiences
Familie Floz from Germany will stage its mask theatre production, "Teatro Delusio", in August.
Wearing elaborate masks and wigs and with myriad costume changes, three male mime artists create an entire company of performers, taking on 29 male and female characters among them.
The charming performances, starting at 7.30pm, will be on August 4 and 5 (Friday and Saturday), at the Theatre, Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre, and August 6 (Sunday) at the Cultural Activities Hall, Sha Tin Town Hall.
Familie Floz turns the spotlight backstage, where three theatre-technicians dream, fight and live in the shadow of the celebrities. In a magical way, their lives in the shadows blend with the glamorous world of pretence. The eerie vividness of the masks, lightning-fast transformations, an astounding array of music and Floz's poetry transport the audience into a world of comic fantasy.
Familie Floz blends acting, dancing, acrobatics, clown, masks and music into a new art form with a unique quality of its own. The masks come to life with the masterful use of body language.
"Teatro Delusio" is part of the "International Arts Carnival 2006" presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
