Museum curators to share their thoughts

Three curators will share their thoughts and experiences of working in museums at a seminar at the Hong Kong Space Museum next Saturday (March 25) from 3pm to 4pm.

The seminar is entitled, "Sharing insights in visiting museums". Speakers include the founding Chief Curator and current Honorary Adviser to the Hong Kong Space Museum, Mr Joseph HC Liu; Professor of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Nebraska, USA and Honorary Adviser to the Hong Kong Space Museum, Professor Leung Kam-ching; and former Chief Curator and current Honorary Adviser to the Hong Kong Science Museum, Mr Lincoln Tsui. The seminar will be conducted in Cantonese. Admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis.

To many people, museums are places for fun and learning. But for the three speakers who have worked in museums as curators, how is the experience different? What are they looking for when they visit museums? And what role do they think museums play in society?

No lectures on black holes, the theory of relativity and the Big Bang -- the experts will simply share their insights on visiting museums.

The Space Museum is located at 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. For further information, call 2721 0226 or visit the website at .

Ends/Friday, March 17, 2006
