Book donations for charity sale

People have an opportunity to help the needy by donating used books and buying valuable old books at an attractive price to support the Book Donation and Sale Campaign 2006.

From now until February 22, readers can donate books to all public libraries (except mobile libraries). The Hong Kong Central Library will accept books until February 26.

Adult and children’s books on general subjects except magazines, primary and secondary school textbooks, exercise books and audio-visual materials are welcome.

The Book Donation and Sale Campaign is jointly organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Home Affairs Department and 18 District Councils, Hong Kong Housing Authority, Hongkong Post, The Community Chest of Hong Kong and the Agency for Volunteer Service. It promotes reading and encourages book sharing.

Donated books will be on sale on February 25 and 26 (Saturday and Sunday) from 10am to 6pm at the Exhibition Gallery of the Hong Kong Central Library (G/F, 66 Causeway Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong), Kai Tak East Sports Centre (30 Luk Hop Street, San Po Kong) and Main Arena of Yuen Wo Road Sports Centre (8 Yuen Wo Road, Sha Tin, New Territories).

All books are on sale at $5 each and buyers are limited to 30 books each. All proceeds will go to The Community Chest of Hong Kong.

For enquires about the Book Donation and Sale Campaign, please call 2921 0221.

Ends/Tuesday, January 24, 2006
