A Showcase of Chinese Ethnic Dance

A group of Chinese dancers from the Xiamen Academy for Performing Arts and the Hong Kong Bauhinia Dance Association will usher in the new year with a dozen or so Chinese folk dance pieces.

The two performing parties have participated in many performances on the Mainland. The New Year's Eve event will feature solo dance, couple and group dances, etc. Dancers in different ethnic fashions will perform dances from Mongolian, Tibetan, Korean, Han and Fujian ethnic groups.

Art Director Lu Yisheng, the former Director of Bejing Dance Academy, has devoted many years to researching and promoting dancing. He has given highly successful public performances. He is currently the Director of Xiamen Academy for Performing Arts, where the students have actively participated in international competitions and won many awards.

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the "Ethnic Dances from our Homeland" will be staged at 8pm, December 30 and 31 (Friday and Saturday) at the Theatre, Hong Kong City Hall.

Tickets priced at $130 and $100 are now available at all URBTIX outlets. Half-price concessions will be granted to senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients. (Limited tickets for Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis.) A 10% discount applies to Friends of LCSD performing venues. There will also be group-booking concessions: 10% discount for every purchase of four to nine full price tickets, 15% for 10 to 19 tickets and 20% for 20 or more tickets.
