Arts Corner at Victoria Park invites stall operators

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department is inviting applications from individuals and subvented non-governmental organisations to operate stalls during the sixth phase of the Arts Corner at Victoria Park.

The new round of the Arts Corner will run from 10am to 6pm on Sundays and public holidays from January 15, 2006, to September 24, 2006. The Arts Corner will be suspended during major events held at the park upon notice.

Interested parties can submit their applications from tomorrow (October 17) to October 31, 2005, with forms available at Victoria Park Management Office on Causeway Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, and Eastern District Leisure Services Office on the third floor of Quarry Bay Municipal Services Building, 38 Quarry Bay Street, Hong Kong.

A total of 38 stalls will be set up at the South Pavilion and South Pavilion Plaza of Victoria Park for displaying and selling recreational, art and cultural related souvenirs, and offering services such as painting, photography, calligraphy and sketching.

Applications will be considered by the department's Arts Corner Stalls Vetting Panel according to the quality and variety of products or services provided.

A trade test may be required to assess the applicants' skills. Additional scores will be granted to applicants who can provide certificates or resumes to prove their skills or related experience.

If the number of qualified applicants exceeds the quota, results will be determined by drawing lots.

Each successful applicant is required to pay a registration fee of $100 and a deposit of $1,000. The deposit will be forfeited if the stall operator's attendance rate is less than 70% or when the agreement is terminated due to failure in fulfilling the agreement terms. Successful applicants are required to deposit a public liability insurance policy of a minimum of HK$6.5 million for the contract period.

Completed application forms should be submitted together with copies of any proof of professional knowledge in respective fields and samples of past works or products to the Victoria Park Management Office on or before 5pm on October 31.

For enquiries, please call 2890 7485.

Ends/Sunday, October 16, 2005
