Moscow vocalists are the perfect "blend"
Concerts by A' Cappella ExpreSSS from Moscow will give Hong Kong audiences an extraordinary vocal treat.
Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the concerts will be held on November 5 and 6.
The six talented young vocalists from Moscow "blend" their voices into various jazz, rock, classic and folk tunes ... without musical instruments. The result is a spectacular a cappella performance with more than a hint of sharp humour.
Troupe members are sopranos Diana Polenova and Katya Nadareishvili, alto Eteri Beriashvili, tenor Max Kostra, baritone Anton Kasatkin and bass Andrey Tunik. Their "voices instead of instruments" reach out to audiences in a style that is unexpected and totally unique. They skilfully imitate orchestral instruments, from the double bass, bass guitar and drums, to flute and trumpet. Whether it's an interpretation of jazz, classic or folk, each is transformed into a new whirl of delightful tunes.
A' Cappella ExpreSSS has won numerous awards including the CARA Award 2004 for "Best Jazz Album" with "Magic Moment", the "Ward Swingle Award" a cappella competition in Austria, 2003, (the best jazz vocal group), "Kinotavr" film festival prize for the best soundtrack to the film "One Life", 2003.
They have performed in many music festivals around the world like the International A' Cappella Festival, "Solevoci" 2005 in Italy, International Jazz Parade Fribourg 2005 in Switzerland, International Festival "Jazz in HOOP" 2005 in the Netherlands, International Jazz Festival "Dinaant Jazz Night" 2005 in Belgium, Montreux Jazz Festival 2004 and 2005 in Switzerland, Jazz in Time Festival 2004 in Moscow, etc. They have toured with the show, "Around the World ExpreSSS", to the United States, Singapore, Germany, Israel.
