29 LCSD swimming pools to fully or partially open

Attention Radio and TV Announcers:

Please broadcast the following special announcement as soon as possible and repeat it at suitable intervals:

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced this afternoon (August 19) that owing to insufficient lifeguards, the Jockey Club Yan Oi Tong Swimming Poolhas been closed for the sake of swimmers' safety.



The remaining 29 public swimming pools are open or partially open to the public for the afternoon session:

Nineteen fully-open swimming pools are as follows:

Morrison Hill Swimming Pool
Victoria Park Swimming Pool
Chai Wan Swimming Pool
Lei Cheng Uk Swimming Pool
Tai Wan Shan Swimming Pool
Kowloon Tsai Swimming Pool
Ho Man Tin Swimming Pool
Jordan Valley Swimming Pool
Kwun Tong Swimming Pool
Island East Swimming Pool
Tuen Mun Swimming Pool
Yuen Long Swimming Pool
Tin Shui Wai Swimming Pool
Tsuen King Circuit Wu Chung Swimming Pool
Fanling Swimming Pool
Sheung Shui Swimming Pool
Hin Tin Swimming Pool
Ma On Shan Swimming Pool
Sai Kung Swimming Pool

Ten partially open swimming pools are as follows:

Pao Yue Kong Swimming Pool (Secondary pool, Teaching pool)
Kennedy Town Swimming Pool (Secondary pool, leisure pool)
Lai Chi Kok Park Swimming Pool (Secondary pool, Training pool, Teaching pool, Fun pool/Leisure pool)
Kowloon Park Swimming Pool (Main pool, Fun pool/Leisure pool)
Hammer Hill Road Swimming Pool (Indoor leisure pool)
Shing Mun Valley Swimming Pool (Main pool)
North Kwai Chung Jockey Club Swimming Pool (Teaching pool)
Tsing Yi Swimming Pool (Main pool, Teaching pool, Fun pool/Leisure pool)
Tai Po Swimming Pool (Main pool, Teaching pool)
Tseung Kwan O Swimming Pool (Main pool, Training pool, Teaching pool)

For Partially-open swimming pools, the number of swimmers accommodated will be less than that of normal capacity. People should pay heed to the on-site public announcements or notices at swimming pools and follow instructions of the pool staff.

Wan Chai Swimming Pool, Sham Shui Po Park Swimming Pool, Morse Park Swimming Pool, Mui Wo Swimming Pool, Kwai Shing Swimming Pool and Sha Tin Jockey Club Swimming Pool have been temporarily closed since 10am until the end of afternoon session as usual for the weekly cleaning operations.

Among the 32 public beaches, the red flags at Deep Water Bay and Repulse Bay Beaches , hoisted earlier due to inclement weather or big waves, have been lowered with lifeguard service resumed. Red flags remain hoisted at nine other beaches but lifeguard service is still being provided. Meanwhile, 22 other beaches will open as normal, while the lifeguard service at Old Cafeteria Beach has been suspended.

People may call the Government Hotline at 1823 or browse LCSD's website at http://www.lcsd.gov.hk to enquire about the opening of public swimming pools.
