New mobile library service points in Tin Shui Wai
Two new mobile library service points will be set up at Tin Yuet Estate and Tin Yat Estate at Tin Shui Wai to strengthen public library services in the area, a Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) spokesman said today (August 16).
The library van will visit new service points at Tin Yuet Estate (adjacent to Yuet Tai House) every Thursday from August 25 and Tin Yat Estate (adjacent to Yat To House) every Saturday from August 27, except public holidays. The opening hours of the new service points are from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm.
Residents may apply for library cards and borrow books, audio cassettes and audio compact discs at the new mobile library service points, or they may visit the district library and the mobile library service point which are providing services in Tin Shui Wai district, added the spokesman.
Located at 1/F, Phase 2, Kingswood Ginza, the district library -- Tin Shui Wai Public Library -- has an area of 1,570 square metres. It has a stock of 190,000 items and is also equipped with a Students' Study Room. The library opens from 9am to 8pm on weekdays, from 9am to 7pm on Saturdays, from 9am to 5pm on Sundays and public holidays and is closed on Thursdays.
The library also provides block loan services to schools and non-profit making organisations. Arrangements can be made for block loans of about 200 items for two months. Interested parties may contact Tin Shui Wai Public Library for details.
The existing mobile library service point is located at Tin Yiu Estate (adjacent to Yiu Man House). It opens from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm every Tuesday, except public holidays.
To further improve the library facilities and services for the district, the LCSD is planning to establish a major library with 6,000 square metres at Tin Shui Wai to replace the existing district library. The project is expected to start in mid-2009 and to be completed in 2011.
