Most LCSD Swimming Facilities Remain Open Today

With more than half of the lifeguards of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) reporting duty as usual and the assistance from organisations, including the Hong Kong Life Saving Society, Auxiliary Medical Services (AMS), Hong Kong Swimming Teachers' Association, and Hong Kong Amateur Swimming Association, most swimming pools and beaches of the LCSD remained open today (August 1) despite the industrial action taken by some LCSD lifeguards.
Among LCSD's 36 swimming pools, 32 beaches as well as four water sports centres, 13 swimming pools were fully open and 21 swimming pools were partially open; 22 beaches were also open. Two swimming pools were closed and 10 beaches had lifeguard services suspended. The four water sports centres were also open.
The department thanked the LCSD lifeguards who reported duty, the honorary lifeguards and all other staff for rendering services at public swimming pools and gazetted beaches, as well as the public's understanding.

The department recorded a total of 29,650 attendance for the swimming pools today whereas that for last Monday (July 25) was 72,256. The number of estimated attendance at the beaches was
21,978 today whereas that for last Monday (July 25) was 30,504.
