Exciting "Cocktail Clown" brings a blissful carnival
Princess Bonbon, Prince Cheesecake, Mr Crab Stick and a splendid cast of colourful characters invite you to a blissful carnival this summer!
Group XPTO from Brazil will bring audiences a creative pantomime of adventure story, funny body movements, wonderful sounds and live Brazilian music in the performance "Cocktail Clown" this July.
The programme is part of the summer spectacular International Arts Carnival presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
"Cocktail Clown" tells the story of the Clown in an exciting adventure. In the midst of mystery, brilliant colours and bizarre forms, two villains, wearing strange costumes and outlandish masks, emerge and try to capture a young girl...
"Cocktail Clown" perfectly blends its invented language and sensational appearances with beautiful Brazilian music. This piece of pure theatre, ranging from the side-splittingly funny to the visually stunning, is ultimately a joyous message of hope and love, and an ode to one of our oldest friends - the clown.
Group XPTO has won many awards at home and overseas. It's production "Cocktail Clown" is the winner of the Best Children's Play Award and the Best Set and Puppet Design Award presented by Brazil's Sao Paulo Association of Art Reviewers.
Founded in Brazil in 1984, the Group XPTO aims at integrating multiple artistic elements of theatre, dance, music and puppetry theatre. It has developed a process of collective creation which encourages its members from diverse artistic background to apply their experiences, knowledge and ideas. Since its inception, the troupe has performed in France, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Venezuela, Uruguay and Colombia.
"Cocktail Clown" will be staged at 7.30pm on July 28 and 29 at the Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre Theatre; and also at 3pm and 7.30pm on July 31 at the Kwai Tsing Theatre Auditorium.
