Two LCSD museums extend opening hours
Opening hours of the Law Uk Folk Museum and Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb Museum will be extended to cover lunch hours - from 1pm to 2pm on weekdays, a Leisure and Cultural Services Department spokesman said today (May 27).
The two museums will now open from 10am to 6pm, Mondays to Saturdays.
The new opening hours of the Law Uk Folk Museum will be effective from June 1 while the Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb Museum will introduce the new opening hours when it re-opens on June 17 after renovations.
The opening hours of the two museums on Sundays and public holidays - from 1pm to 6pm - remain unchanged. They close on Thursdays.
Located at 14 Kut Shing Street, Chai Wan, Law Uk Folk Museum is a declared historical building and the sole remaining architectural example of 18th century Hakka village house in Chai Wan. It is furnished with village furniture, utensils and farming implements to preserve the original ambience and living of a Hakka family.
Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb Museum is located at 41 Tonkin Street, Sham Shui Po. It is believed the tomb was built in the Eastern Han dynasty (AD 25 - 220) according to its structure, inscriptions on the tomb bricks and tomb finds. Pottery and bronze wares excavated from the tomb with an illustrated panel text are on display in the exhibition hall.
