One ticket for two solo performances
************************************

A unique "Solo/Double/Male/Female" series featuring monologues by four outstanding actors íV Linda Marlowe and Gareth Armstrong from the United Kingdom, and Hong Kong's Shaw Mei-kwan and Lee Chun-chow - will be presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department in June.

The series is a chance to see a double bill of solo theatres by one male and one female actor in the same evening.

Linda Marlowe and Gareth Armstrong will perform "No Fear!" and "Shylock" respectively from June 24 to 26 at the Studio Theatre, Hong Kong Cultural Centre.

"No Fear!" is Linda Marlowe's latest solo piece. She is an extremely charismatic and skilful performer. Based entirely on events in her life, she follows up her highly acclaimed "Berkoff's Women" and "Diatribe of Love" with this new piece about how the world's oldest wire-walker looks back at her life on the eve of her 100th birthday. The show is presented through music, mime and monologue in her unique physical style.

"It is the kind of show that you can only do with decades of experience and achievement, considerable chutzpah and masses of talent." - The Scotsman

Gareth Armstrong's career in the theatre as actor, director and teacher has taken him from the Royal Shakespeare Company to London's West End and to more than 50 countries worldwide. His Shakespearean roles have ranged from Romeo to Macbeth and from Puck to Richard III.

Translated into Catalan, Spanish, Italian, French and Russian, his self-written "Shylock" has won awards from New Zealand to Germany and continues to inspire and enthrall the audience.

The second show "The Last Moment" (in Cantonese) performed by Shaw Mei-kwan and Lee Chun-chow will be staged from June 30 to July 7 at the Studio Theatre, Hong Kong Cultural Centre. The story is derived from bullfighting sports. Lee makes himself a bull and Shaw the bullfighter.

Tickets at $200 and $150 are now available at all URBTIX outlets. Half-price concessions will be granted to senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients. There will be a 10% discount for each purchase of the standard tickets of two programmes of the series. For group booking discount, please refer to the programme leaflets.
