Swimming Pool Ambassadors to promote hygiene and cleanliness

Starting from the new swimming season on April 1, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) has deployed “Swimming Pool Ambassadors” to demonstrate and encourage the swim-goers to observe the measures for keeping the public swimming pools clean and hygienic.

An LCSD spokesman said, “‘Swimming Pool Ambassadors’ helps promote to the swimmers the message of keeping personal and public hygiene.

“They appeal for the swim-goers to wash their bodies thoroughly in the changing room and walk through the shower bath and footbath before entering the pool deck area.

“Whenever necessary, ‘Swimming Pool Ambassadors’ will explain to swimmers the rules of using the public swimming pools; as well as to assist the pool staff to advise swimmers to follow the rules,” the spokesman added.

About 100 “Swimming Pool Ambassadors” are deployed to be on duty at the main entrance, the changing room and the pool deck area of every swimming pool on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

The LCSD has deployed sufficient lifeguards to the swimming pools reopened today, having regard to the total areas and design, the number and types of pool facilities, as well as the attendance of swimmers of each swimming pool.

A total of 34 public swimming pools reopened today. Among those, six swimming pools are partially opened for scheduled annual maintenance works. Meanwhile, two other public swimming pools are also temporarily closed for scheduled maintenance works.

The spokesman appealed to swimmers to work together to keep the swimming pools clean and hygienic by observing all the rules of using the pool facilities.
