Easter entertainment with three mime artists from Spain
*******************************************************

Looking for some entertainment over Easter? Why not try three mime artists and a bunch of car tires?

This unlikely mix comes in the form of "BOOM!" by the Chapertons Comic Theatre from Spain. Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, "BOOM!" is a comic masterpiece reminiscent of the Chaplin era.

The three comedians turn tires into motorcycles, bumper cars, a circus elephant, a frog, a huge fly, a cowboy, a flamenco costume, even a chamber orchestra of tires... all are done with imagination and wit.

Like Charlie Chaplin with a walking stick as his only prop, this Barcelona trio with their pneumatic tyres and comic genius, push the limits of mime.

The Chapertons took second place at the United Slapstick Awards 1993 in Frankfurt, Germany and the Artist of the Year 2000 award in the "Comedy" section. After almost 10 years of international touring, the original Chapertons wanted a break, but due to the phenomenal demand, the group has performed with its second crew since May 2001. The new Chapertons presented their first show together in the summer of 2001 at the International Theatre Festival in Edinburgh.

Performance details are as follows:
March 25 Cultural Activities Hall, Tsuen Wan Town Hall
March 26 Theatre, Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre
March 27 Auditorium, Tai Po Civic Centre
March 28 Auditorium, North District Town Hall
