"A Spanish Fiesta" by the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong will be staged next month featuring renowned guitarist Xuefei Yang with traditional Spanish music.

Also performing at the concert will be mezzo-soprano Cynthia Luff and guest conductor Carlos Checa. The programme includes Albeniz's "Sevilla, Cadiz & Asturias" (from Suite Espanola, No. 1) (arr. Established in 1999, the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong comprises professional musicians from more than 10 nationalities as well as former members of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestra gives regular concerts each year with internationally renowned artists.

"Xuefei Yang is already one of the best guitarists in the world" - Badische Zeitung (Germany). She has been awarded numerous prizes in guitar competitions such as the Stotsenberg International Guitar Competition, the San Francisco International Guitar Competition and the Young Concert Artist International Competition in the US. Born in Beijing, Yang was the first guitarist to graduate from the Central Conservatory of Music and received a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music. She gave her debut concert in Madrid at the age of 14. A few years later, John Williams heard her perform and gave her his own Smallman guitar. In 2003 and 2004 she gave 54 concerts for the "Night of the Proms" tour to Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. In the coming season, Yang will perform in Denmark, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore and Amsterdam.
