Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb Museum to close temporarily
*************************************************

Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb Museum will be closed from January 17 to June 16, 2005, for renovation works, a Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) spokesman said today (January 6).

Works will include construction of a tensile cover structure over the Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb as a long-term protection measure to tackle the water leakage problem caused by the deteriorated outer concrete case during the heavy rains.

Renovation works will also include redecoration of the exhibition gallery and museum building. Preparation is in progress to organise a new exhibition featuring the latest archeological discoveries of Han tombs and finds in South China.

During the renovation period, those who wish to learn more about the Han Tomb may visit the Hong Kong Museum of History's "Hong Kong Story" exhibition, in which the tomb and its history are featured .

The Hong Kong Museum of History is located at 100 Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. It opens from 10am to 6pm from Monday to Saturday and from 10am to 7pm on Sundays and public holidays. It is closed on Tuesdays (except public holidays). Admission is $10 and a half-price concession available to full-time students, senior citizens and people with disabilities. Admission is free on Wednesdays.
