Hong Kong Flower Show launches floral exhibit competitions

Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), the 2005 Hong Kong Flower Show will be held from March 11 to 20. The show is now inviting participants to take part in its floral exhibit competitions. Applications are free of charge and will be open until February 4.

The show will feature the rhododendron as its theme flower and "Whisper of Spring" as its theme. There will also be a unique display of exquisite flowers and plants from local, Mainland and overseas, and winning entries will be put on display for public enjoyment.

The competitions, comprising Open and School Categories, will be divided into 15 sections and 89 classes. The sections include orchid, Chinese cymbidium, potted plant, cactus and succulent, foliage and carnivorous plant, African violet, bonsai-type plant, Western and Oriental-style floral arrangements, floral art by school children, and primary and secondary school potted plant growing/nursing.

Section winners will be awarded trophies. The Hong Kong Flower Show Cups will be awarded to the best exhibits of the Open Section and School Section. A prize presentation ceremony will be held during the Show at Victoria Park.
