Chinese DanceSport Stars to give four performances

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and the Department of Health will bring in a team of DanceSport stars from the Mainland for four public performances in Hong Kong in January, 2005, as part of the departments' ongoing efforts to promote regular exercise under their Healthy Exercise for All Campaign.

"Although ball games, swimming and working out are still what usually come to mind when one mentions sports, it has been some years since social dance had evolved into a sport," an LCSD spokesman said today (December 27).

"We hope the graceful movements and striking professionalism of the 15 pairs of dancers will inspire spectators young and old to take up DanceSport, which not only helps improve physical fitness but also enhances self-confidence and sociability" he added.
