Leisure and diving pools in Kowloon Park closed tonight
*******************************************************
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced today (December 16) that the indoor leisure pool and diving pool of Kowloon Park Swimming Pool were temporarily closed during the last session tonight for detailed examinations of pool water.
"The closure is a prudent measure that the department takes to ensure the pool water is up to hygiene standard," a spokesman for the LCSD said.
The water tests of Kowloon Park Swimming Pool have been satisfactory since its reopening this September, after which the frequency of bacteriological and chemical tests on pool water was increased.
"The Water Supplies Department this afternoon informed the LCSD that in the December 15 water samples a very small quantity of Coliforms was found."
"We immediately followed the advice given by the Department of Health to close the pools for thorough investigation and superchlorination."
Checking by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department confirmed the water filtration system was in normal operation. The affected pools will be reopened tomorrow morning.
The latest water tests of all other public swimming pools indicated that the water quality is up to hygiene quality and these pools remain open as usual.
"We shall continue to closely monitor the water quality regularly to ensure the pool water is up to hygiene standard in our public swimming pools," the spokesman added.
