Inner Mongolia singer-songwriter sings with his soul
****************************************************

Hong Kong audiences will have an opportunity to hear music sung in Mongolian style when Tengger and his Blue Wolf perform here next month (December).

Tennger is described as a singer-songwriter from Inner Mongolia who sings with his soul. He first made his name in music circles in 1986 with his composition and performance of the song "The Mongolian". Since then, he has won a number of first prizes in various national and international music competitions. In 1991, he won the top award for Chinese works with "Father and I" in the Second Asia Music Festival.

In 1992, he was invited to stage a solo concert at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Park in Taipei. The concert caught extensive attention as he was the first Mainland singer to perform in Taiwan in about 40 years.

In March, 1993, Tengger formed the Blue Wolf with five of his friends who came from the beautiful Inner Mongolian Steppe and shared the same music vision. The group is named after the blue wolf that was the totemic ancestor of the Mongols in ancient Mongolian myth. At present, the Blue Wolf comprises six members - Zhang Quansheng (Matouqin), Liu Xiaoguang (Keyboard), Na Risu (Bass Guitar), Yin Beier (Guitar), Fan Junyi (Drums), Arai Solchiro (Percussion).

The December concerts will include many of Tengger's works like "Heaven", "Father and I", "How Many Years", "Days in Love with You", "Wait, or Leave", "The Mongolian", etc.

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, "Tengger and his Blue Wolf in Concert" will be staged at 8pm on December 5 (Sunday) at the Auditorium, Shatin Town Hall and December 6 (Monday) at the Concert Hall, Hong Kong City Hall. Tickets priced at $230, $180 and $120 are now available at all URBTIX outlets. Half-price concessions will be granted to senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients.
