Special cleansing continues at LCSD swimming pools open in winter
*********************************************************

Fourteen heated swimming pools managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will remain open this winter for members of public and groups.

Apart from daily regular cleansing work, a special cleansing operation will be arranged alternately at the pools every week to ensure the standard of hygiene is maintained at the highest level.

Twelve of the 14 swimming pools, namely Wan Chai Swimming Pool, Morrison Hill Swimming Pool, Island East Swimming Pool, Sham Shui Po Swimming Pool, Kowloon Park Swimming Pool, Ho Man Tin Swimming Pool, Hammer Hill Road Swimming Pool, Yuen Long Swimming Pool, Shing Mun Valley Swimming Pool, Fanling Swimming Pool, Sha Tin Jockey Club Swimming Pool and Tseung Kwan O Swimming Pool will begin to provide heated swimming facilities on November 1.

Lai Chi Kok Park Swimming Pool and Tuen Mun Swimming Pool will be re-opened on January 1, 2005 after the completion of annual maintenance works.

To cater for the needs of both swimmers and swimming groups, the weekly cleansing operation will start from 10am until the end of the second session of each individual swimming pool. The pool will then be re-opened at the third session. This allows cleansing operations to be conducted during sessions of low usage and to meet the demand of morning swimmers and training sessions of swimming groups conducted at dusk and night.

The schedule of the weekly cleansing operation is listed below. If the cleansing weekday of the pool falls on a public holiday, the pool will remain open for public use.
