Japanese minimalist theatre group to "amplify" the senses

An all-male avant garde theatre group, Sal Vanilla from Japan will create an atmosphere of surrealism in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Studio Theatre tomorrow (October 22) and October 23 at 8pm with its latest multi-media work "amplified", an interplay of futuristic images, surreal music and vibrant movements.

With its trademark white set, cutting-edge audio-visual effects and in-sync choreography, Sal Vanilla is the ultimate definition of minimalist cool.

"Amplified" is a unique work depicting everyday urban life and desires. Combining precise, dynamic body movements and a ground-breaking theatrical space design with a perfect blend of the latest technologies in visual, sound, lighting and installation art, the show will give audiences a nerve-tingling experience and a shock to the senses.

In addition to performing "amplified", Sal Vanilla will also conduct a workshop, "Body as Media", on October 23 from 3pm to 4.30pm at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Studio Theatre. Admission is free.

The multi-media performance "amplified" is one of the programmes of the "New Vision Arts Festival" organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

Tickets priced at $100 and $150 are available at URBTIX outlets. Half-price tickets are available for full-time students, senior citizens, people with disabilities and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients. Group booking discounts are up to 20% off.

For programme enquiries, call 2370 1044.
