Young talent to perform Chinese dance from the '60s to the present
****************************************************************

Hong Kong Ginger, a dance company formed by Chinese dance graduates of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, will perform in a new production, "Era", in October.

Featuring famous classical dances, dances from different ethnic minorities and original contemporary pieces from the company, the performance upholds the Chinese dance development from the '60s to the present. The new works also aim to give insights into traditional Chinese dance.

The shows, presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, will be held at 8pm on October 8 and 9 (Friday and Saturday) at the Theatre of the Ngau Chi Wan Civic Centre.

Founder, artistic director, choreographer and dancer Cherry Lai will perform with Hong Kong Ginger. Established in 2000, the company is devoted to the creation and promotion of Chinese dance. Incorporating different forms and elements to create contemporary Chinese dance, the troupe has also collaborated with artists from different fields to explore the fusion of dance with other art forms. Recent works include "The Party of Zhou Feiyan and Bob Fosse", "Hi Again Zhou Feiyan" and "When Hong Kong Ginger meets Four Gig Heads".

Tickets priced at $120 are available at URBTIX outlets.
