Cleansing operation at swimming pools
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will carry out large-scale thorough cleansing operations at all of its swimming pools to further upgrade the hygiene standard of the pool environment.
Starting tomorrow (September 8), eight pools will be closed every Wednesday from 1pm, resuming service the following morning. They are: Wan Chai, Island East, Lai Chi Kok Park, Tai Wan Shan, Kwun Tong, Yuen Long, Shing Mun Valley and Sai Kung.
The LCSD is strictly enforcing a requirement that swimmers go through a shower and a foot bath before entering the swimming pool.
The department has appealed to people to pay attention to personal hygiene. Before entering the pool, people wearing slippers must soak their feet and slippers in clean water by going through a foot bath and a sanitising floor matt to avoid dirtying the pool.
The schedule of the thorough cleansing operation of other public swimming pools is listed below. Affected pools will be closed from 1pm on the day and will resume service the next morning.
