Israel dance company brings a surprising dance theatre
******************************************************

Inbal Pinto Dance Company (Israel), an extraordinary dance troupe, will perform in Hong Kong next month.

"Oyster", presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, will be held on September 17, 18 and 19 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) at 8pm at the Theatre of the Hong Kong City Hall.

"Oyster" is a dance theatre with an abundance of colourful and mysterious images. Charming, peculiar and yet strangely familiar, "Oyster" conjures up poetic and playful images stemming from childhood fairy tales. With a flying girl in a lampshade dress, a two-headed giant and white-faced marionettes, "Oyster" evokes the charm of the circus, the cabaret and old-time theatre, combining the freakish and the beautiful with movements from modern dance, ballet and acrobatics.

The show has been performed more than 100 times worldwide and was featured twice in Dance Umbrella of England. "Le Progres" (France) described it as "a rare gem in a bizarre circus", while "The Times" (UK) wrote that it was a "circus crossed with a cabinet of curiosities ...Its blend of dance and theatre is a magical gift to the audience".

Inbal Pinto, founder of the Inbal Pinto Dance Company, was born in Israel in 1969. She began choreographing in 1990 and her creations included "Dio-Can", "Versus", "Mr. Wow", "Chance for 100", "Wrapped", "Oyster", and the new work "Boobies". "Oyster" won the best event award in the Theatre Awards for the Performing Arts in Tel Aviv in 1999/2000. In 2000, Pinto received the Award from the Ministry of Culture for Dance, an award from the Municipal City of Tel Aviv and the "Bessie" - a New York Dance and Performance Award for the creation, "Wrapped".

A star in the dance world, the company toured 30 European cities and New York between 1998 and 2000 with "Wrapped". Since then it has toured extensively in Europe, the US, Japan and Mainland China.

Ticket priced at $220, $160 and $100 are available at URBTIX outlets.
