HK Symphony Orchestra to delight fans of Harry Potter and Spiderman

The Hong Kong Symphony Orchestra will add a touch of Hollywood to its August concert, "The Sound of Sci-Fi Movie".

Music director Ambrose Law will conduct the programme, which features music from "Harry Potter", "The Lord of the Rings", "Spiderman", "Wild Wild West", "Final Fantasy", "ET - the Extra-Terrestrial" and "Star Wars". The performances will be held at 8pm on August 14 (Saturday) at the Auditorium, Tai Po Civic Centre and August 15 (Sunday) at the Auditorium, Tuen Mun Town Hall.

The Hong Kong Symphony Orchestra is the largest and most versatile performing group under the Hong Kong Symphony Society. The orchestra can be augmented to quadruple-wind scale with more than 100 players. Its wide repertoire covers large-scale and sophisticated orchestral and symphonic works. Besides Western classical music, the orchestra also promotes contemporary Chinese orchestral music and other types of music. Recent performances include "Fantasia in D - Music of Disney", "An Evening of ABBA" and "Joe Hisaishi and Hayao Miyazaki - The Animation Symphony".

"The Sound of Sci-Fi Movie" is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

Tickets priced at $100, $80 and $60 ($100 for Tuen Mun's performance only) are available at URBTIX outlets. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients.
