Enrolment starts for Masters Games 2004/05

In this year of the Athens Olympics, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) invites people aged 35 or above to join in the excitement by participating in the annual Masters Games.

The Master Games, now in their 12th year, will be held between August, 2004, and January, 2005. A total of 10 sports events will be organised - badminton, distance running, gateball, lawn bowls, orienteering, squash, swimming, table tennis, tai chi and tennis.

To encourage participants to be actively involved in the games and to promote sports volunteerism, the LCSD will arrange for them to act as umpires in some events.

A department spokesman said," The Master Games emphasise participation and enjoyment rather than winning. By providing those aged 35 or above with competition opportunities, we hope to sustain their interest in sports."
