An extraordinary telling of the story of "Cinderella"
*****************************************************

The Ukrainian Shumka Dance Company of Canada will enchant the Hong Kong audiences with the fairytale world of "Cinderella" - against the backdrop of a Ukrainian village.

This is one of very best choice for children and parents alike in the coming summer holidays.

The show, "Cobbler's Princess", is a journey of love, magic and triumph. A beautiful young girl with a gentle spirit is bullied by her stepmother and two stepsisters. Yet, with the help of gypsy spirits, she finally finds her handsome prince and they live happily ever after. The classic love story has been spiced up with comical cobblers, fencing masters, noblemen and Cossacks. The show features Ukrainian regional dances, an extravagant pageant of costumes and sets, enchanting music and the dancers' thrilling leaps, sensational spins and high kicks.

Shumka's unique Ukranian-Canadian presentations are recognised internationally for their artistic and professional integrity and their first-class work they produce. The company has thousands of patrons across the country and holds the sixth highest box office records for nationally touring dance productions in Canada.

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, "Cobbler's Princess", which is one of the attractions of the International Arts Carnival (IAC), will be staged at the Shatin Town Hall on August 27 and at the Tuen Mun Town Hall on August 28, both shows at 7.30pm. Tickets priced from $80 to $180 are now available at all URBTIX outlets. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients, while Friends of LCSD performing venues receive a 10% discount. For other discount schemes, please refer to IAC programme booklet.
