Kowloon Park, Lai Chi Kok Park fun fairs launch

The popular outdoor entertainments "Arts Fun Fairs" at Kowloon Park and Lai Chi Kok Park will enter Phase V tomorrow (June 6).

From tomorrow to November 28, the fun-filled fairs organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will be held at the loggias of Kowloon Park and Lai Chi Kok Park (Stage III) between 1pm and 7pm on Sundays and public holidays.

Stalls will be erected in the parks to display and sell recreational, art and cultural related souvenirs or pre-packed traditional snacks, or to offer services of painting, photography, calligraphy or sketching to visitors.

Admission to the fairs is free.

"The fairs are aimed at helping the public appreciate arts, thus enhancing the arts culture of Hong Kong and making the parks more appealing to local and overseas visitors," a department spokesman said.

Similar events known as the "Arts Corners" are mounted in Victoria Park and Hong Kong Park.

The one in Victoria Park is held between 10am and 6pm on Sundays and public holidays; the other one in Hong Kong Park from 1pm to 7pm on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

Ends/Saturday, June 5, 2004
