More data needed for "bun scrambling" application
*************************************************
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) convened an interdepartmental meeting today (May 21) to examine together with experts the new proposal submitted by the Cheung Chau Bun Festival Organising Committee for staging the "bun scrambling" activity in the Festival.
After consultation with experts at the meeting, it was considered that the information provided in the proposal was insufficient for assessing the structural safety of the "bun towers" for carrying out "bun scrambling" activity.
The Secretary for Home Affairs, Dr Patrick Ho, together with representatives from LCSD, the Buildings Department, the Islands District Office and the Organising Committee will tomorrow (May 22) pay a site inspection with experts to Cheung Chau before coming to a decision on the "bun scrambling" application.
The party is expected to arrive in Cheung Chau at 10.30am.
