All-Star Show welcomes Buddy Bears

More than 130 buddy bears designed by artists all over the world, including Hong Kong, are on their way and to welcome these lovely bears and unveil the United Buddy Bears Exhibition, an opening ceremony and all-star show will be held on May 15.

Free tickets for the show - from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at Victoria Park - will be distributed to members of the public starting tomorrow (May 6) at the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD)'s District Leisure Services Offices on a first-come-first-served basis. Each person is entitled to two tickets.

Artistes who will entertain include 2R, Yan Ng, Stephanie Cheng, Juno Mak, Monie Tung, Wilfred Lau and Don Lee. The show will feature a variety of programmes such as singing, dancing, and band performances.

The United Buddy Bears Exhibition is organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Home Affairs Department, the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation and Buddy Bear Berlin and assisted by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the Tourism Commission and the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Hong Kong.

The exhibition aims to promote love, peace and solidarity as well as fostering public art and showing the public how to incorporate art into daily lives. It also helps raise funds for the Community Chest of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Committee for United Nations Children's Fund and the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation.

One hundred and twenty colourful two-metre Buddy Bears created by artists of different countries, together with 12 Buddy Bears designed by local artists, will be displayed at the exhibition from 8am to 10pm daily from May 16 to June 27 at the Central Lawn of the Victoria Park.
