Award-winning dance works to be held in April
The "Bauhinia Cup Hong Kong Dance Championship 2004 Winners' Performance" will be staged next month at the Kwai Tsing Theatre.
Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and organised by the Hong Kong Dance Federation, the performance features various types of dance including Chinese and Western dance, ballet, modern dance and jazz.
Winning groups from the "Second Bauhinia Cup Dance Championship" (Hong Kong Region) to be held in early April will be invited to perform at the show on April 23 and 24 , and exchange with local and mainland dance troupes. Guest troupes include Guangdong Modern Dance Company, Shenzhen Arts School, Hong Kong Dance Company and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. They will join to display the new direction and development of dance art in the new millennium, which is the theme of the show - Linking the Cadenza of the Past to the Future.
The Bauhinia Cup Dance Championship was introduced and organised by the Hong Kong Dance Federation in 1994. The federation aims to foster the art of dance, encouraging and expediting dance development in Hong Kong and promoting the cultural exchange of dance. Apart from assisting the Recreation and Sports Services of the Hong Kong Government in running training programmes for dance teachers since its inception, the federation has also formed an assessment panel, providing adjudicators for local dance competitions and jointly presenting the "Chinese Dance Graded Examination" with the Beijing Dance Academy as well as organising the "Hong Kong Dance Expo" every year.
The performance will be held at 7.30pm on April 23 and 24 (Friday and Saturday) at the Auditorium, Kwai Tsing Theatre. Tickets priced at $130, $110 and $90 are now available at all URBTIX outlets.
