Youngsters to perform Chinese minority songs and dances

Teenagers from chorus and dance groups in Inner Mongolia, Jilin, Guizhou, Yunnan and Zhejiang will line up with members of local youth choirs to perform in two shows on May 1 and 2 (Saturday and Sunday).

The shows, "My Land, My Home - Choral and Dance Festival of Chinese Ethnic Youths 2004", will be held at 3pm at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall and will feature folk songs and dances from different Chinese minority ethnic groups, including Mongolian, Chaoxian, Dong, Buyi, Yi and Miao.

Performing in the shows will be Hugejifu Children's Choir (Inner Mongolia), Arts Group of Yanji Central Primary School (Jilin Province), Guizhou Philharmonic Children's Choir, Yunnan Hong Children's Choir, Wenzhou Ailu Art School (Zhejiang Province), The Hong Kong Children's Choir, Yuen Long Children's Choir, Hong Kong Youth Choir, Music Office Children's Choir and Youth Choir.

The two shows are presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

Tickets priced at $180, $140, $100 and $60 are available at URBTIX outlets. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients. A 10% discount applies to Friends of LCSD performing venues. There will also be group booking discounts: 10% for four to nine tickets, 15% for 10 to 19 tickets and 20% for 20 tickets or more.
