2004 Music Office annual gala
More than 450 musicians from seven orchestras, bands and choirs will perform in the 2004 Music Office annual gala on March 28 (Sunday) at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall.
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department said there would be marvellous music played throughout the concert which begins at 3pm.
Musicians are from the Hong Kong Youth Strings, Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Youth Symphonic Band, Hong Kong Youth Chinese Plucked String Orchestra, Hong Kong Youth Chinese Orchestra, Music Office Youth Choir and Music Office Children's Choir. Conductors include Angelina Au, Patrick Sze, Chan Tat-kwong, Yau Yuen-hing, Pak Wing-heng, Kwok Kin-ming and Tsui Ying-fai. Guest organist is Peter Yue.
The programme will include Kuan Nai-chung's world premiere of "Joyful Encounter of North and South", Schubert's "An die Musik", Liszt's "Les Preludes", Tchaikovsky's "Serenade in C Major for Strings, Op.48 (4th Movement)", Chabrier's "Espana Rhapsody", Cao Wengong's "Dream of City Loulan" and Gu Guanren's "A Grand Gathering on Tienshan".
Tickets priced at $60 and $40 are now available at all Urbtix outlets. Half-priced concessions are available to senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance Recipients. There is a 10% discount for purchase of five to nine full-price tickets, and 20% discount for purchase of 10 or more full-price tickets.
