HK Chamber Choir to perform Bach's oratorios

The Hong Kong Chamber Choir will give a choral music appreciation concert at 8pm, April 4 (Sunday) at the Tsuen Wan Town Hall Auditorium.

Soprano Rosaline Pi, mezzo-soprano Cindy Wong, alto Cynthia Luff, counter-tenor Ray Chan, tenors Sam Lau and Tam Yu Leung, baritones Jimmy Chan and Rod Lander and organ recitalist Wong Kin Yu will perform under the baton of Michael Ryan. The choir will perform Bach's "Easter Oratorio" and "Magnificat" with the accompaniment of the Hong Kong Soloists and narration by George Mak.

The Hong Kong Chamber Choir was established in 1999 to meet the increasing demand for choral works from local music lovers. Members must be excellent soloists who are also good ensemble singers. The choir's notable performances include Schutz's "Christmas Story"; Handel's oratorio "Alexander's Feast" and masque "Acis and Galatea"; Bach's "St John Passion"; "An Evening of Baroque Motets"; "Voice of the Renaissance"; "Vocal Delights Made in Hong Kong"; Faure's "Requiem"; Haydn's "Creation"; and Purcell's "Anthems".

The concert is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

Tickets priced at $100, $80 and $60 are available at URBTIX outlets. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients. A 10% discount applies to Friends of LCSD performing venues.
