Book sale raises $810,000 for Community Chest of Hong Kong

The two-day Sale of Doated Books on February 21 and 22 raised more than $810,000 for the Community Chest of Hong Kong, a spokesperson for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (March 2).

This year's book sale at Hong Kong Central Library in Causeway Bay attracted over 21,000 people and 160,000 books were sold. Both the number of participants and books sold have increased from last year.

The Book Donation and Sale Campaign is jointly organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Home Affairs Department, the Hong Kong Housing Authority, Hongkong Post, the Community Chest of Hong Kong and the Agency for Volunteer Service with the aim of promoting reading, book-sharing and helping the needy.
